Using Annuals - Flowers we love to grow!

Why do great gardeners add annuals to their garden plans?

Using annuals in your home garden offers variety and choice for some great color and texture. They only last one season, but some annuals are fast growing and can provide color in the garden through the summer up til the first frost.

Don't forget annuals for containers ,planters, and hanging plants too . The full lush look can be spectacular!

  • Annual flowers are great for adding instant color in your garden or landscape when you use almost-ready-to-bloom pot grown plants from the garden center.
  • Annuals are easy to start indoors – planting seeds indoors is both fun and economical.

  • Use in pots and containers; Annuals are perfect for low maintenance color and interest on smaller patios or yard spaces.

  • An annual flower garden is a great way to experiment with color – Plan your garden color scheme and try it out. If you don't like it, you can change the plants the next year. Remember, annuals only survive one season. It’s guilt free! :)

  • The more that you cut the plant blooms, the better the annual plant does. Believe it or not , they liked to be picked! The plants will produce more and more blooms.

  • Great for flower arrangements- the colors are bright and the flower lasts a long time when cut.

  • Using annuals is a great way to fill in your perennial gardens that have not matured enough to completely fill the space. Annuals also tend to bloom for longer periods of time, so by adding them to the perennial garden, you can extend the color in the garden longer.
