More Practical Garden Tips

  • Always create a drainage hole in the bottom of the lightweight fiberglass planters if they don't already have one when you purchase it. Some times they come with the drainage hole and sometimes not.

It’s very easy to use a screw driver to poke the holes into the bottom of these. If there is no drainage, the plants may become over watered and can die. Add the holes in before you add the soil and plants to the container!

  • And another thing to watch out for with those planters.

They can blow away on windy days! I had one of my planted pots blow down the street during a windy Minnesota spring!

When using large lightweight fiberglass pots- add a heavy brick or some rocks to the bottom, but keeping the drainage hole open…...This should keep you planter put.
