Cleome

The cleome is a large, delicate flower. A show stopper in the garden and great for your cut flower bouquets.

Often planted in public gardens as well as parks and golf courses, the flower atracts butterflies and hummingbirds.

These flowers will bloom in full sun to part shade, but like to be kept moist. Water as soon as the top few inches of soil is dry.

I must warn you about the scent though. They have a pungent odor...kind of smells like skunk!

Color

Purple, Rose, Pink , and White

Blooming Period

Summer through Fall

Height

Up to 6 feet. These are large plants so allow for plenty of space!

Uses

  • Wonderful on their own in any garden

  • Plant in the back row with shorter flowers in the same color family in front

  • Great front yard landscape idea used as a focal point in an entry garden
